Same Row? Wrong Level.

Inspired by Itamar Gilad episode

When you keep having the same bedtime battle, you don't have a tactics problem - you have a strategy problem.

Every night, same fight about pyjamas. You're negotiating which ones, offering choices, doing the silly dance. Nothing works. You think you need better tactics.

You don't. You're fighting at the wrong level. Itamar Gilad says when you keep having the same argument, you don't disagree about tactics - you disagree about strategy. The pyjama battle isn't about pyjamas. It's about bedtime itself. Or screen time before bed. Or who's putting them down.

My partner and I spent weeks arguing about morning routine - shoes, coat, speed. Finally realized we disagreed on what time we needed to leave. Once we aligned on that strategy, the shoe negotiation just... stopped.

Go up a level. What are we actually disagreeing about here? Because the real issue is never the pyjamas. It's never the shoes. And you already know this because you've been having the exact same fight for three weeks straight.
