Amazing for Some, Not Okay for All

Inspired by Annie Pearl episode

Annie Pearl's 'amazing for some' rule at Calendly applies beautifully to parenting advice—not every strategy fits every family.

Annie Pearl made one decision that changed everything at Calendly: saying 'this is amazing for these people, and not okay for these other people.' That clarity unlocked focus.

Instagram says Montessori floor beds changed lives. Peaceful toddlers surrounded by wooden toys and beige everything. You tried it. Your kid used the floor bed as a trampoline at 2am and now sleeps in your bed with their foot in your ribs.

Baby-led weaning looks magical in videos. In your kitchen it's a Jackson Pollock made of sweet potato. Gentle parenting works for gentle children. Your kid uses timeout to plan their next heist.

'This is amazing for these people, and not okay for these other people.' That's not failure. That's data. You're finding what works for YOUR child, who had a forty-minute meltdown because their sandwich was cut wrong and you can't uncut a sandwich.

The Instagram approach works for Instagram parents. You're just trying to survive Tuesday.
