Put It Where They Already Are

Inspired by Jess Lachs episode

Jess Lachs: biggest AI mistake is hiding features in settings. Surface them in natural workflow. Same for toddler snacks and water bottles.

You built an incredible AI feature. It's beautiful, powerful, and buried three menus deep where no one will ever find it.

It's like buying your kid a gorgeous Danish coat rack and installing it in the basement. Then acting shocked when they throw their coat on the kitchen floor every day. The coat rack is DOWN THERE. They live UP HERE. You didn't buy a coat rack, you bought a monument to optimism.

Snacks on the top shelf? They'll eat crackers off the floor. Water bottle in their room? They'll drink from the dog bowl. Homework at the fancy desk? They're doing it on the couch in ketchup-stained pajamas.

Stop building perfect systems in the wrong location. The shoes go by the door they actually use. The snacks live at eye level. You're not designing for the life you wish they had—you're designing for the chaos they're actually living.
