Don't Hire Sales Yet
Inspired by Jen Abel episode
Jen Abel: founder-led sales is your advantage because only you spot insights that refine product-market fit. Same with parenting observations.
You know your product like nobody else knows anything. You've lived in this problem. You know the exact moment the customer realizes they're screwed without you. That salesperson you hired? They're reading slides.
Founder-led sales isn't scrappy—it's your unfair advantage. Pattern knowledge every successful company guards like a nuclear code.
Think of it like bedtime routines. You KNOW your kid loses it if you skip book two. You know the nightlight has to be at exactly 40% brightness or they're awake at 3am. You've figured out the sequence—the timing, the tone, which book triggers which meltdown.
Now imagine hiring a babysitter and just... leaving. Hoping they guess your system. They won't. They'll do what works for their kids, and yours will explode.
Same with sales. You're the only one who knows why customers actually buy. Do the hard work now. Learn the patterns. Build the playbook. THEN hire. If you outsource too early, you're just outsourcing your ignorance.
