Protect Time and Attention

Inspired by Jason Fried episode

Jason Fried on how work doesn't happen at work. Deep work needs protected time. So does quality time with your kid.

Jason Fried protects maker time from meeting disruption. Fragmented time is useless time—you can't build anything meaningful when you're constantly interrupted.

Your day is fragmented into 20-minute chunks between toddler demands. You sit down to think about something important and three minutes later someone needs help wiping. Can't think, can't focus, can't remember what you were even trying to figure out.

Those protected blocks everyone talks about? They don't exist. Naptime isn't for laundry, but you're doing laundry because your brain is too fried to do anything else. That golden hour before they wake up? Sure, if you want to sacrifice sleep to be coherent.

Fragmented time produces fragmented thinking. You're not getting dumber, you're just living in 90-second intervals. And no, you can't "batch" diaper changes.
